Email Stream Management – ESM
Email Stream Management (ESM) is the core technology of all Mailspect products. ESM processes email as streams, identifying streams by myriad criteria. Once streams are categorized services are applied as needed within ESM policies. Policies can be applied to any group of users based on content, lists, directories, direction, IP, addresses, etc.
ESM Services are applied within ESM policies.
Spam Filtering

Content Engine
The Content Engine compiles regular expressions for ultra-fast analysis of email and certain attachments. The content engine can classify email for ESM policy selection or to find content in email. Once content is found email can be routed, stored, quarantined, logged, delivered, etc.
MIME Engine
The MIME engine allows ESM policies to manipulate or generate MIME in any way imaginable. Remove insecure MIME types, rewrite messages for machine processing, extract text from HTML messages, attach signatures and more.
MySQL Engine
The MySQL engine is perhaps one of the most powerful engines of ESM. It is email2db extraordinaire. ESM has an extensive template language to extract information from email headers and body for use in MySQL queries. Whether you are logging, auditing or require complex, mult-step queries, ESM has the MOST flexible email to database solution available for MySQL. File Engine
The file engine writes email to disk, manipulates email files and has many storage macros. Applications for the file engine include duplicate checking, storing email to disk, large scale email storage with extensive macros for dynamic path creation, etc.

Web Services Engine
The web services engine allows Mailspect to query any web service application with information extracted from email headers and bodies.
